Caernarfon Artist Regional Network (CARN) is a membership organisation and social enterprise that works through artists to deliver benefits towards the wellbeing and prosperity of the community. It recognises that by helping artists to develop confident and thriving art practices, it can maximise the contribution they make to society. Therefore, it’s vision is:
“For artists in Caernarfon and the surrounding area to have more confidence and capacity to deliver their art so that they can help embed creativity in the culture of Caernarfon, leading to long term benefits to the towns wellbeing and prosperity.”
In order to do this CARN developed Balaclafa – an event, exhibition, shop, meeting and discussion space for artists, makers and creative people to enable activity across the area. The group also operates a short residency programme based in Carnafan a temporary space in a converted caravan. The group also supports a range of local groups and societies by active partnership working.
CARN is open to artists, arts organisations and community members who are interested in the arts and creativity. There is an established ongoing communication forum online via Facebook, Instagram CARN and via the STAMP website.
Regular meetings take place face to face to exchange opinions and ideas from anyone interested in the arts in Caernarfon and beyond.
